Police begins investigation as PWC senior partner, Tola Ogundipe drowns in Lagos
The police in Lagos state has begun an investigation into the demise of the Deputy Country Senior Partner, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Nigeria, Tola Ogundipe, who drowned while boating on a coast near Lagos.
According to reports, Ogundipe went boating on his own on Sunday, September 6. However, he was declared missing after he wasn't seen on the boat. His body was found by the Marine Police on Monday, September 7.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, Muyiwa Adejobi, said four workers of the deceased have so far been interrogated and that investigations have been taken over by the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba. Adejobi said the outcome of the investigation by the SCID will be made public.

Nigeria records 296 new COVID-19 cases, 6 deaths

296 cases of COVID-19 were recorded across Nigeria on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
Tuesday's update showed that a total of 55,456 COVID-19 cases have been recorded since February.
Plateau recorded the highest number of new cases with 183, after recording 25 new cases just the previous day.
Lagos recorded 33 cases, followed by Abuja with 25, and Ogun with 16.
Other states that recorded new cases are Oyo (7), Ekiti (6), Kwara (5), Ondo (5), Anambra (3), Imo (3), Nasarawa (3), Rivers (2), Gombe (2), Edo (2), and Akwa Ibom (1).
103 people who have recovered from the novel disease were discharged on Tuesday, raising the total number of recoveries to 43,334.
Six new fatalities also raised the death toll to 1,067.

“Within these few days we have examined the numerous policies, programmes and projects the administration has embarked upon which are targeted at lifting our people from the shackles of poverty, protect their lives and properties and ensure equitable distribution of the nation’s wealth.
“I have to charge all of you to defend the government vigorously and not allow irresponsible and politically motivated activists to keep spreading patent falsehoods about this government.
"Information to the public should be better packaged. Go on the offensive. We are proud of our achievements and we should blow our own trumpets,” Buhari said.
