Bishop Oyedepo says he'll lay his bare hands on COVID-19 patients and breath into them if they’re brought to him

Bishop Oydepo says he'll embrace COVID-19 patients because he carries eternal life.
Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of the Living Faith Chapel better known as Winners says if COVID-19 patients are brought to him for prayers, he’ll lay his bare hands on them and breath into them.
The Pastor reportedly said this during his church programme on Saturday, August 29, 2020.
During the broadcast, Oyedepo said, “Can you imagine anyone bringing a coronavirus patient to me and I won’t lay hands on him? Will I wear gloves to lay hands on them?
“I will lay hands on them; breathe into them; embrace them. What you carry is eternal life, it’s not human life. You should know that.”
This is not the first time Oyedepo’s statement regarding COVID-19 would stir controversy.
In June, the cleric claimed his church recorded 114 COVID-19 healing testimonies.

During the Coronavirus-enforced lockdown, which led to the closure of churches nationwide, Oyedepo said the governments of Lagos and Ogun state infected with an anti-church virus and not COVID-19.
Again, while condemning the safety precautions issued by the government to mitigate the spread of the virus, the cleric criticised people who wear nose masks and gloves to protect themselves from contracting the disease.

“You’ll now wear everything like a doctor, you have never been to a theatre in your life. You will be moving like somebody is under some attack. Someday, they will know that they have been deceived.

“They will all know that they have been grossly deceived,” he said expressing doubt in the virus and its preventive measures.
”You’ve covered your mouth: do you cover it when you want to eat or there is no coronavirus when you are eating? I just look at it and say, ‘what is all this?” Oyedeop said in a recent video.

Like Oyedepo, Chris Oyakhilome, the founder of Christ Embassy Church too has criticised the government and safety measures put in a place to address the spread of the virus in Nigeria.

Barcelona not willing to negotiate Lionel Messi's departure before his contract expires in 2021

Madrid: Barcelona are unwavering in their intention to keep Lionel Messi and will not facilitate his departure.Spanish media reports said Messi has contacted the club to try to resolve the situation. Barcelona said Saturday that they will not negotiate to allow the Argentina great to depart before his contract ends next year.

Messi is not expected to report to the club on Sunday for scheduled coronavirus testing that is required for the entire squad before training can resume next week, according to Catalan radio RAC1.

Earlier this week, Messi said he wanted to invoke a contract clause that allowed him to leave at the end of last season, but the club said the clause had already expired.A lengthy legal battle may ensue as the 33-year-old forward is expected to say the clause was valid until the end of the season, which was pushed back because of the pandemic.

Barcelona are not willing to give up on the player, especially not for free. Messi’s contract, which ends in June 2021, has a buyout clause of 700 million euros ($830 million). He has been with the club for nearly two decades, leading it to more than three-dozen titles and holding most of its individual records.

Spanish media said Messi and his team of lawyers contacted the club late this week to try to discuss his situation. He had announced his intention to leave by sending the club a burofax, a certified document similar to a telegram.

Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu reportedly tried to meet with the player after his decision to leave was announced. He later said he was willing to resign if that was what it took to get Messi to stay, and if the six-time Ballon D'Or winner admitted the president's presence at the club was the reason he wanted to leave.

Messi reportedly talked to new coach Ronald Koeman before making his decision to leave.Messi hasn’t spoken publicly since the embarrassing 8-2 loss to Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals of the Champions League on 14 August, one of the worst defeats in the player’s career and in the club’s history.

He was outspoken against some of the club’s decisions this season, the first without a title since 2007-08.Spanish radio station SER said on Saturday that Barcelona was ending their contract with their current law firm because it also worked for Messi.

Training for Barcelona is scheduled to resume on Monday ahead of the start of the Spanish league season on the second weekend of September.

Governor Sanwo-Olu orders reopening of tertiary institutions in the state on September 14

After months of being shut down, schools in Lagos are set to re-open in September, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu revealed on Saturday.
The Governor, in a regular briefing on the state’s COVID-19 status, said tertiary institutions in the state will re-open from September 14.
Primary and secondary schools are also tentatively scheduled to re-open from September 21.

“This decision is not cast in stone and is subject to review of our ongoing modelling and what procedure comes out from the Ministry of Health,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The Governor explained that the decision was based on indications that the pandemic has peaked in the state, as the number of new cases continues to steadily decline.

Sanwo-Olu reiterated that restaurants are now permitted to open for in-dining services in the state, although they must continue to ensure spaces are only filled up to 50 percent capacity at all times.

On the re-opening of event centres, bars, night clubs, beaches, cinemas, the Governor said a review will be done in September to decide whether to allow a re-opening of such public spaces.

Responding to a question on whether the Federal Government’s 10 pm curfew still holds in Lagos, Sanwo-Olu replied in the affirmative.
“These are challenging times for all of us,” he said
